The arcade is powered by PICO-8, a fantasy games console (i.e. something that never existed) from the 1980s. It has a 128x128 display, 16 colours and 32K of cartridge space and a simple D-pad/two button control scheme. It uses a cut-down version of Lua as it's programming language and the code, art and sound for each game is built right into the cartridge PNG images below! So you can save the cartridge image and load those directly into PICO-8 and then change the code if you like as the code is available for each game so you can learn or experiment :-) |
